Mostly When I’m Sailing

Mostly When I’m Sailing

I know not the which way
or the other way the winds
are setting me much less the tides.
I cannot truly navigate I can only
dead reckon and there are dangers
in doing so or not like what I mean
is I look for what fits in cross word puzzles
and when I have no idea, I guess fingers crossed.
And trim back in hope, for example–
Would NNE be the opposite of SSW?

Well, to be fair to myself
I could helm enough in time
to claw away from a dark shore, just,
and hard alee come from the depths
of such dreams that come from over-
whelms to open seas, awake, awake.
In time, thank god, in time.
